{"id":230,"date":"2011-04-04T15:08:00","date_gmt":"2011-04-04T14:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.silicontechnix.com\/?p=230"},"modified":"2011-04-04T15:08:00","modified_gmt":"2011-04-04T14:08:00","slug":"retirement-of-autorun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.silicontechnix.com\/?p=230","title":{"rendered":"Retirement of Autorun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size:12px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">After a decade of abuse, Autorun is finally being retired in older versions of Windows.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:12px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Microsoft has finally removed Autorun function from earlier versions of its Windows operating system that has been widely abused by miscreants to surreptitiously install malware on users&#39; computers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:12px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Vista\/Windows 7 introduces some new features like UAC and improved AutoPlay (aka Autorun) that disables certain functionality which has been abused by malware (like Conficker).
